Position Overview: A busy season sets in, we are looking to expand our back of house team. The ideal candidate for this job has worked in professional kitchens before and is willing to work on the line, in a prep shift, and in the dish pit.

All candidates who apply must be able to: 

  • Stand for long periods, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work 8-9 hour shifts with one break, many in the morning, some starting as early as 6am.
  • Be present for shifts on weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation practices and personal hygiene.
  • Arrive on time to shift and follow directions consistently. 
  • Work efficiently in a high-volume environment. 

Our ideal candidate…

  • Has some prior line-cook or kitchen experience or some food service skills (such as knife skills or saute experience).
  • Brings some understanding of kitchen operations and food safety.
  • Is eager to learn, regardless of their current skillset. Wants to build and grow together. 
  • Receives feedback well and enjoys trying new things.
  • Is reliable, punctual, and takes pride in doing good work. Believes consistency is key, and can commit to doing things the same way, every time.
  • Works well on a small, tight-knit team of motivated, energetic people. Is willing to be flexible as we iron out the logistics of a new business. 
  • Believes good food is made with ethically sourced ingredients and prepared with care.
  • Is interested in the health of our local food system and wants to connect more with local farmers, makers and growers
  • Thinks the food and beverage industry can evolve for the better—and wants to be part of that change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and chef directions.
  • Execute prep tasks such as portioning proteins, chopping vegetables, making sauces, and assembling grab-and-go items.
  • Operate deli slicers, ovens, flat-tops, salamander, and other equipment safely.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including daily tasks and station breakdown.
  • Spend several hours at a time doing dishes.
  • Support the team with flexibility and a positive attitude.

Logistics:

  • This is a part time position, to start, ideally daytime Wednesdays and Thursday and evenings Fridays and Saturdays. 
  • This position reports to our Executive Chef.
  • For candidates who reach the final stages of this application process, we may conduct a background check to screen for any past conduct that endangered the safety of the candidate or others. We may also ask for references or a paid trial shift in the final stages of this process.

Compensation and Perks

  • Compensation will start at $16/hour plus a tip share. We will ensure that all employees make $23.15 for every hour worked.
  • As part of our commitment to shared success, Finest will distribute a portion of profits biannually to Operators—defined as team members who keep the business running. Distributions will be calculated based on total hours worked and length of service.
